Each year in December, the marketing and design world awaits a trendsetting announcement from the Pantone Institute. 

What’s the “color of the year?”

For designers, manufacturers, marketers and creatives, generally speaking, the announcement shapes decision-making in branding and marketing, and the color palettes used in everything from toy manufacturing to interior design.  

The color of the year for 2020 is … Classic Blue!

This week, the second largest flavor company in the world, Firmenich, announced that:

“Due to its longstanding association with well-being and strong consumer awareness, Firmenich forecasts that ‘classic blueberry’ will be the flavor of the year for 2020 as consumers rediscover its versatility.”

What are the chances?! 

I’ve already been receiving calls and emails from friends and colleagues expressing their excitement for our industry and the possibilities ahead. 

Last week’s Fresh Thoughts certainly focused on our challenges ahead in 2020. It seemed only fitting that this breaking news reflects the kind of big opportunity that can be just around the corner.
